Below are some commonly used words, terms Phrases that are associated with Photoshop or graphic design along with short and to the point brief explanations of what they are:

PSD What is psd? – PSD is Adobe Photoshop’s native file format. I believe that it stands for Photo Shop Document.

Vector What is vector? -  Vector graphics are generally used for print. Graphics for print are usually done using vector shapes in order to retain the sharp crisp quality and easy re-sizing abilities.

Png – Images created in Photoshop and other design programs can be “saved-as” a png . If you would like artwork saved with a transparent background then a png would currently be the most suitable format for this. A file saved in png format with a transparent background will usually be heavier than jpeg.
